Curriculum

At MIS, we advocate a well-rounded and holistic curriculum that encourages our learners to have a multi-faceted learning experience. Our teaching methods aim to enable the all-round development of a child, giving them the tools to become self-reliant individuals with strong personalities, along with academic and emotional intelligence

We aim to hone our Medi-Captains in six areas namely :

• Academics
• Personality development
• Values
• Sports and Health
• Skills and Vocational competencies

and teach them self-reliance, discipline, empathy and basic life skills along with academic knowledge. Our curriculum is based on the idea that each learner has the capability to be the best if provided with the correct tools.

Pedagogy

At MIS, we do not follow the traditional system of rote learning as cramming the concepts can never make a person knowledgeable. Here the students are involved in the construction of knowledge through active involvement in Inquiry-based Learning.

In Inquiry-based learning, children raise questions and find out answers to their questions through multiple methods. The representation of their thoughts and ideas is also done in multiple ways through writings, verbal discussions, drawings, graphs, charts, models, exhibitions etc. The teacher is an important guide, facilitator and co-learner in this inquiry-based learning process along with children. Due to this method, students develop an in-depth understanding, 21st century skills and a strong motivation to learn.

Teachers as Mentors

Educators, at MIS, are not only teachers, they are friends, philosophers and guides as well. We believe that the fundamental one-on-one connections between mentors and students are the bedrock of great outcomes. The sensitivity and compassion of teachers affect them in profound and lasting ways.

Teachers, at MIS, connect with students personally, take personal interest in students' learning and are concerned about all the problems of the students. They endeavour to help the students in solving all sorts of problems - academic or personal. This personal touch enables our students to be confident to achieve great success in all the spheres of life.

Stress-free Environment

MIS is a happy school. To ensure that education is a positive, purposeful and joyous experience, we endeavour to create a stress free environment in the school. The amiable environment created by love and affection makes the students feel loved and they do miracles.

 The quality of teaching is enhanced by the valuable inputs of human emotions to sustain empathic and sensitive relationships. Our deepest hope for our children is that they will construct knowledge in school about themselves, their community and the world that is robust, resilient and creative

Community Service

MIS considers its commitment to community service an integral part of the school's overall educational philosophy. MIS' service learning activities foster community service, compassion, reflection, and collaboration, supporting the school’s core values.

 When Medi-Captains get involved in community service, they not only help others — they expand their worldview, develop empathy & leadership skills, and realize how their actions can have a positive impact.

Through individual, small group and school-wide acts of service, we help all members of the Medi-Caps community develop the belief that giving back to those in need is a lifelong responsibility.

Remedial & Enrichment Classes

Remedial Classes are often used to stress the basics in a subject such as Math, Science and Languages. They can help students who are having problems with advanced concepts to fully understand the basics of the respective subject. Catering to individual needs of students and their respective learning levels, remedial classes act as useful tools for the students. Remedial classes create a positive environment for students suffering from low self-esteem, as they encourage students to ask as many questions as necessary, to understand a subject rather than feeling pressured to learn everything immediately.

Enrichment Classes

We intend to prepare an environment that helps each child develop his intellectual potential. In order to nurture and prepare our students to excel in a world full of opportunities, Enrichment Classes are conducted for scholar students for helping self motivated students to reach the pinnacle of new heights in their academics.

Coding

From self-driving cars to robot-assisted surgery to social media, computer science is revolutionizing every aspect of our lives. Coding is a fundamental skill that children need to learn so they can lead this movement. Learning to code is similar to learning a second language. The earlier children are exposed to fundamental topics like sequencing, loops and conditionals, the more deeply they absorb these concepts.

With the same philosophy, we have included Coding in our curriculum.  In order to make things interesting for them, Block based coding is taught right from Class I using Code.org, Scratch, MIT App Inventor, HTML, JavaScript and Python etc. As we move up higher in the grade levels, students are trained to design:
